About FARmresearch.com

FARmresearch.com hosts project information from several site-specific management projects administered by FAR (Foundation for Agronomic Research) and the PPI (Potash and Phosphate Institute).

Projects

This site would not be possible without the contributions from projects sponsored by the USDA, United Soybean Board and Illinois Soybean Program Operating Board. Clicking on these links organizes the content by these projects.

USDA-CSREES-IFAFS

This IFAFS grant supports the development of FARmresearch.com as well as the development of training materials for online and offline consumption. The goal of the project is to create training on how to use the technologies of site-specific management for more efficient, more profitable farming.

United Soybean Board

The USB project was the cornerstone project that helped to attract many matching contributions from industry and federal and state government agencies. The USB project is studying site-specific management. The project is set up in three regions of the U.S.: Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Midsouth, each with their own perspective of analyzing how technology can be used in crop production.

Illinois Soybean Program Operating Board

The ISPOB project uses high-tech crop scouting tools along with remote sensing imagery - provided by NASA's Spectral Visions Midwest - to examine how remote sensing can be used to help make in-season and cross-season management decisions.

Features

One way to use this site is by the "features" or subwebs that group related content.

InfoAg ConferenceInfoAg Conference

The InfoAg Conference is a place for farmers, industry, and university researchers to get together to talk about what's hot in precision farming. The Conference web site features presentations from speakers, handouts from workshops and registration and exhibitor information for upcoming conferences.

How Do I...

The How Do I...section answers questions. We looked at the most frequently asked questions from farmers and crop consultants about how to use the data they were collecting to make crop production decisions. The How Do I... section addresses these questions and organizes the site content - from all of the projects involved - by topic.

GIS for Agriculture

The GIS for Agriculture portion of FARmresearch.com covers how to use GIS in precision farming and other areas of agribusiness. The site features tutorials, a map gallery, and links to GIS resources on the web.

Enhanced Farm Research Analyst - ArcView Extension for Crops ResearchEnhanced Farm Research Analyst

The EFRA site is about a piece of software designed to run with ArcView GIS to create research plots and analyze data coming from those plots. The software is available for free. There is also online documentation for how to use EFRA.

Site-Specific Management Guidelines at www.ppi-far.orgSite Specific Management Guidelines

The Site Specific Management Guidelines link takes you to the PPI-FAR web site and lists the SSMG's available for download. You can also order the printed set of this set of short, hands-on discussions of many issues and technologies facing farmers and crop consultants.
